Urban Exercising

(Walked 3 1/2 hours to and from a boat on the Seine) - (Ate beouf bourguignon, a strawberry tart, and half a cheese plate) = Net?

Grocery shopping - great for arm strength (who needs dumbbells when you're schlepping around a tiny basket with a ton of food and carrying it home)

Walking around Marais- who needs a sauna when there's a natural sauna outside

Getting from place to place requires walking (and sometimes running to catch the Metro) - better than a treadmill, I can see things going on and be outside.

Photo Essays

I've decided that, in addition to posting, I'm going to post a photo essay on my blog once a week. This week, I'm working on pictures of store windows in Paris during Soldes. I'm really excited about doing this, so we'll see how it turns out!

So, what did we do this weekend?

It was a packed weekend.

Friday - We went on a boat cruise on the Seine with an Internationals group here...not super fun. More people attended than were anticipated and you couldn't move....but still a nice evening to be outside and on the Seine. Afterwards, Clint and I sat near the Eiffel tower and ate sandwiches from a local vendor.

Saturday - I think I had the best meals of my life on Saturday. I'm starting to get my appetite back and I'm really enjoying the food (beyond chocolate and cheese).

Sunday - We explored Marais, which is the Jewish/GLBT area of town...isn't that odd? Lines for falafel were a block long. It was really amazing. There were lots of long lines for certain vendors. Clint and I waited 45 minutes for ice cream...which was so worth the wait. Best ice cream I've ever had! The streets are packed with people. Its really fun to just walk around and be part of Paris.

Of course, Sunday night was the Euro 2008 Soccer match which we watched at an English bar with another couple. Hey, it only happens once every four years (I just learned that last night). We had some beers and watched soccer...it was fun. Spain won and now its time for some Wimbledon and then the Olympics!

Dena and I stayed in the Marais when we frist visited Paris 10 years ago. It could be my favorite area of town.

Have ya'll been through the Latin quarter yet?
